The Resolve is accepting pitches for features, reported news stories, explainers, profiles, interviews, analysis, and personal essays — 800–1000 words. For this call, we’re especially looking for content under three broad themes: race and health; race and justice; and race and the environment; but all other topics and subjects are always welcome.
Pay for accepted pieces is $0.50/word.
We try to reply to every pitch, though this isn’t always possible due to time and the volume of submissions. If you don’t hear back from us within one week after submitting, please assume that we aren’t accepting your pitch. Don’t hesitate to pitch us again, though!

The Resolve is creating independent online Canadian journalism that centres, elevates and celebrates Black, Indigenous and racialized voices and stories. It’s journalism for us, by us
Our focus is on Indigenous, Black and racialized people telling their own stories directly to BIPOC audiences — not filtered through a white lens. We stay with important stories that matter to Black, Indigenous and racialized communities even after the 24-hours news cycle has moved on. We reflect the real-life experiences of our communities — the highs and the lows, the challenges and the successes, the sorrows and the joys, and everything in between.
