A message from founder Matthew DiMera
“The Resolve” is loosely inspired by a quote from Mary Ann Shadd Cary, the first Black woman publisher in North America, and the first woman newspaper publisher in Canada: “we have made but a little progress considering our resolves … We should do more and talk less.”
That message ties directly into our vision to connect journalism to action. Our new “resolve” is a renewed determination to use journalism to help strengthen and support our communities, and to build a more equitable form of journalism for BIPOCs.
