A message from founder Matthew DiMera

Our name, The Resolve, is loosely inspired by a quote from Mary Ann Shadd Cary, the first Black woman publisher in North America, and the first woman newspaper publisher in Canada: “we have made but a little progress considering our resolves … We should do more and talk less.”

That message ties directly into our vision to connect journalism to action. Our new “resolve” is a renewed determination to use journalism to help strengthen and support our communities, and to build a more equitable form of journalism for Black, Indigenous and racialized people.

Donate to The Resolve

We are raising funds for research and educational activities related to The Resolve’s launch. Donations can be made through our charitable partner C4C Canada. All contributions over $1,000 will receive a charitable tax receipt.

All payments are processed through Stripe. Stripe is a PCI Service Provider Level 1, which is the highest grade of payment processing security. All credit card information is encrypted, sent directly to Stripe and is never sent to our website server.
